Kimberly Brusuelas has been an accomplished attorney in the Albuquerque metropolitan area for over 20 years. Kim earned her law degree from UNM in 1990. In law school she was a National Hispanic Scholar and also a member of the prestigious and award-winning National Moot Court Scholar Team. After law school, she served as an Assistant Public Defender in Albuquerque.
During eight years as a public defender Mrs. Brusuelas handled thousands of criminal cases that included everything from minor shoplifting to homicide. In 1997, she moved into private practice specializing in criminal defense and gaining recognition as an experienced trial attorney.
She served on the board of the Hispanic Bar Association for several years and was also a longtime member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. While not abandoning her expertise in criminal defense, Mrs. Brusuelas now focus on litigating civil matters for the benefit and safety of the people of New Mexico. She is qualified to practice law in all courts across the state including the United States Magistrate and District Courts for the State of New Mexico.
She currently holds memberships in the American Association for Justice’s elite Leadership Forum and the Interstate Trucking Litigation Group as well as National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers. Ms. Brusuelas has two daughters and is married to the Honorable Edward Benavidez of the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court.
Courtney Johnson-Vidales runs the operations at of the Law Firm. Courtney’s consistent work ethic vitally supports our day-to-day operations and provides top-notch representation to our clients. She is the constant contact between the attorneys and the clients. Courtney’s calm, helpful demeanor comforts and serves our clients in times of trouble. Courtney has lived in Belize, Phoenix and Las Vegas but calls New Mexico home.
She graduated high school from the New Mexico Military Institute. After completing her first two years of college at NMMI she transferred to the University of Nevada – Las Vegas earning a bachelor’s in Criminal Justice in 2008. She has been working with us since September 2010 and exemplifies the trustworthiness and rock-solid dependability we offer our clients.
